Kieran is a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of British Columbia (UBC), and visiting scholar at the University of Ottawa. He seeks to understand how individuals and groups simplify complex decision making problems, particularly those related to climate change adaptation, borrowing theory and methods from psychology, behavioral economics, sociology and geography. He earned his Ph.D. in Resources, Environment and Sustainability (UBC, 2017), following an M.Sc. (UBC, 2009) and B.Sc. (University of Alberta, 2005). He is registered as a Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.), and is active in the Society for Risk Analysis (International and European chapters).
