Objectives: Through attending this session participants will be able to:

  • Review the global situation of pediatric, neonatal and maternal mortality
  • Review the determinants of health in low resource countries
  • Discuss the objectives and impact of the millennium development goals and the sustainable development goal
  • Discuss why neonatal care needs to be reinforced in order to achieve the under-5 mortality rate goals
  • Illustrate the health advocate role through personal projects to improve neonatal survival in Benin, Africa
