Have you ever wondered what work habits are required to find and win a precedent setting case? This term, third-year Common Law student Robin Anderson participated in a directed research project where he interviewed several lawyers who had found and won precedent setting cases. These lawyers were asked what it was like to act on their precedent setting case, what work habits they consider essential for finding and winning precedent setting cases, and their attitudes towards work/life balance. Some of the lawyers interviewed include:
 
- Former Ontario Court of Appeal judge Robert Armstrong (Hill v Church of Scientology of Toronto);
- University of Ottawa President and Former Attorney General of Canada Allan Rock (Reference re Secession of Quebec);
- Harvey Strosberg (Parsons v Canadian Red Cross Society);
- Gary Will (Whiten v Pilot);
- Christopher Du Vernet (Jones v Tsige);
- Lorne Waldman (Canadian Doctors for Refugee Care v Attorney General of Canada); and,
- Jeff Orenstein (Lac-Mégantic class action).
