L’école de Kitigan Zibi, 40 ans plus tard

L’école de Kitigan Zibi est une école indépendante qui ne relève pas de l’autorité du ministère de l’Éducation du Québec. Les dirigeant-e-s de Kitigan Zibi sont très fier-e-s du fait que l’école secondaire de Kitigan Zibi délivre son propre diplôme d’études secondaires depuis 1985. En tant qu’école des Premières Nations située sur une réservce, l’école a connu de nombreux succès au fil des années, mais aussi inévitablement certains défis. Les succès et défis de l’école de Kitigan Zibi seront présentés au cours de cette conférence.

The Kitigan Zibi School After 40 years

The Kitigan Zibi School is an independent school that is not under the authority of the Quebec Ministry of Education. The Kitigan Zibi leadership is very proud of the fact that the Kitigan Zibi High School has been issuing its own high school diploma since 1985. As a First Nations school on reserve, there have been many successes through the years along with some challenges. The Kitigan Zibi School’s successes and challenges will be highlighted during this conference.

Good on paper but what about in practice? Preservice teachers’ professional identity for equity

This seminar examines preservice teachers’ identity development in a program specifically developed to prepare teachers to work with four priority learner groups. Study findings suggest preservice teachers’ limited critical action towards challenging social and educational inequities signalling for deeper analysis of how equity is framed within national education policy and practice.
