Joint Chair in Women's Studies, University of Ottawa and Carleton University

In 1985, the Office of the Secretary of State created a Joint Chair in Women's Studies at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University. Working in both French and English, the incumbent of the Joint Chair in Women's Studies at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University, teaches, engages in research and participates in appropriate committees and events on both campuses. She acts as a resource person on women's issues and feminist research at both universities. She also establishes and maintains contact with local, regional, national and international feminist educational and community-based organizations.

Gender and Evaluation: Strange Bedfellows?

Internationally, gender and other elements of diversity are increasingly factoring into performance systems. However, these diversity dimensions are noticeably lacking in Canada’s government evaluation function . This presentation outlines efforts undertaken to date, those required, the involvement of multiple stakeholders, the major limitations, and exciting movement forward in this area.

Theatre in Prison: The great escape beyond the walls

Event organised by the Joint Chair in Women Studies

Theatre. Prison. An impossible alliance? The first evokes expression and liberty. The second confinement and limitation. Testimonials and professional experiences with other professionals in Canada and elsewhere will be used to discuss the question of theatre in prison.

In this presentation, we will address various issues related to theatre in/and prison in Canada (Victoria, Montreal, and Ottawa), in the United States (Michigan), and Europe (Belgium and England).
