Du 18 au 27 janvier dernier, les professeur-e-s Marie-Christine Doran (uOttawa) Isabel Orellana (UQAM) et Ricardo Penafiel (UQAM) ont participé à la « Mission canadienne d'observation des droits humains au Chili », organisée par un collectif québécois de solidarité avec ce pays. Cette mission avait pour but de faire la lumière sur les violations de droits humains au Chili depuis les soulèvements populaires d’octobre 2019, et d’interpeller le gouvernement canadien à briser le silence à ce sujet.
In January 18- 27, professors Marie-Christine Doran (uOttawa) Isabel Orellana (UQAM) and Ricardo Penafiel (UQAM) participated in the “Canadian Human Rights Observation Mission in Chile”, organized by the a Quebec-based solidarity group with this country. The purpose of the mission was to shed light on human rights violations in Chile since the social uprisings of October 2019, and to call on the Canadian government to break the silence on this matter.

Come join us next week for snacks and refreshments as we celebrate Black History Month with the film screening of Detroit (2017), based on the historical 1967 Detroit riots. The screening will then be followed by a brief discussion and questions. Hope to see you there!
A bilingual event, the movie will be in English with french subtitles
This bilingual conference aims to gather graduate students and recent graduates who work on various topics related to migrations and racisms. It is interested in both, the phenomenon of migration or racism in itself as well as in the complex and multiform interactions or articulations between them. Eight universities will be represented.
L’objectif de ce colloque bilingue est de réunir des étudiant(e)s des cycles supérieurs ou récemment diplômé(e)s et travaillant sur une pluralité d’enjeux liés aux migrations et aux racismes. Nous nous intéresserons aux deux phénomènes en eux-mêmes, mais voulons aussi explorer les intersections et articulations complexes et multiformes entre les deux. Huit universités seront représentées.
