After almost five years of civil war, in September 2018 the Government of South Sudan and opposition forces signed the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS). Some praise the accord for possible ceasefire, power sharing, security sector reform, renewed oil production and democratic elections.
