2015 Friesen Prize Lecture by Sir Paul Nurse

The University of Ottawa is proud to welcome Sir Paul Nurse, winner of the 2015 Henry G. Friesen International Prize in Health Research, who will present a public lecture.

Sir Paul Nurse is a geneticist and cell biologist. He is President of The Royal Society and Director of the Francis Crick Institute in London. He received the 2001 Nobel Prize in Medicine for his discovery of key regulators of the cell cycle.

A light lunch will be served in the Atrium after the lecture.

Conférence de Sir Paul Nurse, récipiendaire du prix Friesen

L’Université d’Ottawa est fière d’accueillir Sir Paul Nurse, récipiendaire du Prix international de la recherche en santé Henry G. Friesen de 2015, qui donnera une conférence ouverte au public.

Sir Paul Nurse est généticien et biologiste cellulaire. Il est également président de la Royal Society et directeur de l’Institut Francis-Crick à Londres. Il a reçu en 2001 le prix Nobel de médecine pour sa découverte de régulateurs clés du système cellulaire.

Un dîner léger sera servi dans l’Atrium après la conférence.

L’Université d’Ottawa est fière d’accueillir le Dr Peter Piot, récipiendaire du prix Gairdner en santé mondiale 2015 et codécouvreur du virus Ebola. M. Piot a contribué grandement à la recherche sur le VIH-Sida tout en démontrant un leadership exemplaire dans la lutte contre cette épidémie, notamment en Afrique. Une réception dans l’Atrium suivra la conférence.

The 2015 Gairdner Foundation Lecture

The University of Ottawa is pleased to welcome Dr. Peter Piot, 2015 Canada Gairdner Global Health Award Laureate and co-discover of the Ebola virus. Dr. Piot has greatly contributed to HIV/AIDS research and has shown exemplary leadership in the global response to this epidemic, especially in Africa. The lecture will be followed by a reception in the Atrium.

Startup Garage Rally

The Startup Garage Rally is the “graduation” event for the 12 youth-led startup companies that participated in the Startup Garage program this past summer. This 90-day program provides student-led ventures with space, mentorship, training and funding to help youth get their companies off the ground.

To celebrate their accomplishments, we are rallying the Ottawa community around CigBins, Deporte Conex, eCelery, Enplex, eStaffMatch, GameStrat, NextBigThing Studios, Predikat, Repair Quote, Oat & Mill and Tyto Robotics for a final send off.
