Without losing the summative assessment of individual performance on exams, collaborative exams were introduced in my large-enrolment courses. Two-stage exams are those in which students first write an exam individually, followed immediately by a second stage in which they write the same, or similar, exam as part of a small group. During the group part students receive immediate feedback on their answers from their group classmates and are exposed to alternative ways of thinking to solve problems.
Des examens collaboratifs ont été mis en œuvre dans des cours à grand effectif sans pour autant éliminer la mesure du rendement par l’entremise d’évaluations sommatives individuelles. Des examens à deux étapes ont été conçus pour que les étudiants effectuent, dans un premier temps, un examen individuel suivi immédiatement d’une deuxième étape au cours de laquelle ils effectuent le même examen, ou un examen semblable, au sein d’un petit groupe.
The Teaching and Learning Support Service (TLSS) is pleased to announce a special funding initiative for projects involving the production of educational videos in French. Projects must meet the following criteria:
be based on the production of videos in French that will contribute to the improvement of teaching and/or learning in a course offered at the University of Ottawa;
be completed by March 31, 2016;
be based on a maximum budget of $5,000.
*Only regular faculty members are eligible to submit projects.
