Critical Thinking

This seminar is aimed graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who are faced with challenging problems, in both research and teaching, and want to learn how critical thinking techniques can help them find the best solutions. This interactive seminar covers techniques that will enable participants to learn how to generate new ideas, evaluate ideas objectively, make better decisions, challenge related work, and solve problems more effectively. Examples of problems in various areas will be used throughout the seminar.

Canada is actively seeking foreign workers and professionals to help grow a strong national workforce. As well, Canadian employers are actively seeking foreign skilled workers to alleviate labour shortages across industries from coast to coast.

It is, however, very challenging for many graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from foreign countries to understand the Canadian workplace culture and its characteristics to be fully prepared to have a successful career in Canada.
