Join us April 6 at noon for a session with Elisa Romano, Professor in the School of Psychology with Cross-Appointment to the Faculty of Education, Member of the Interdisciplinary Research Lab on Children’s Rights in the Civil Law section of the Faculty of Law, and Registered Clinical Psychologist in Ontario. She will present on Implementation and Evaluation of the SafeCare® Program for Child Neglect.

Abstract:There is a high incidence of child neglect among families who are involved in the Ontario child welfare system. These families are often raising children under adverse circumstances that include financial strain, social isolation, and mental health difficulties. In this presentation, I will provide an overview of child neglect in terms of incidence and risk. I will also introduce the evidence-based SafeCare® parenting program that addresses proximal neglect-related risk and summarize our research findings from a previous program implementation and evaluation within Ontario child welfare. Finally, I will highlight the nature and scope of our current SafeCare® project.

Virtual Event on Zoom.
