This workshop will consist in dicussing methods and writing practices, starting with collaborative work on political/state violence in Paris, France. Desjarlais and Habrih will present their respective methods and how their collaborative/contrapuntal engagements unfolded on the ground, before presenting some of their writing strategies in Traces of Violence (UC Press, 2021). The workshop will then move toward an open discussion on the concept of trace and inquiring into violence and its (past, present, and future) afterlives.
