This is a 90-minute panel on the prospects for an Atlantic Free Trade Area (AFTA). Following a presentation by Armand de Mestral (Professor Emeritus and Jean Monnet Chair in the Law of International Economic Integration at McGill University), an expert international panel moderated by Crina Viju-Miljusevic (Associate Professor of European Economic Integration, Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies and Associate Director, Centre for European Studies at Carleton University) will provide their perspectives on an AFTA, followed by a Q&A. The panel members are:

  • Özlem Atikcan, Associate Professor in Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick;
  • Marc Bungenberg, Director of the Europa-Institut and Professor of Public Law, European Law and Public International Law at the University of Saarland;
  • Michelle Egan, Professor and Jean Monnet Chair ad personam, School of International Service, American University;
  • Ricardo Ramirez, Founder and Partner of RRH Consultores, S.C. and former WTO Appellate Body Member;
  • Sylvie Tabet, General Counsel and Director, Trade Law Bureau at Global Affairs Canada.
