Do you have an interest in safeguarding our environment or care about ensuring that all communities in Canada have access to safe and clean water?  Have you ever thought about a career in water and wastewater management?    If so, join us this Friday, November 8th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at FSS 4006 for a discussion with Social Sciences alumnus, Mr. Wilhelm Rinas (Political Science, 1985). As Director of Legal Services, Procurement and Insurance at the Ontario Clean Water Agency Mr. Rinas will discuss:
  • The Ontario Clean Water Board – its role, successes and challenges and how it relates to our changing environment and the need for water accessibility.
  • The opportunities that are available for FSS graduates with the OCWB and what skills the organization is looking for.  
  • How Social Sciences grads go about obtaining entry level positions with Crown Corporations

Biography

Wilhelm Rinas is the Director of the Legal Services, Procurement and Insurance Group at the Ontario Clean Water Agency. He has over 19 years experience in the water treatment services sector. He started working at the Ontario Clean Water Agency in 2000 as legal counsel. From 2001 to 2003, he worked for the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks and was part of the team that drafted the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002. He has a B.Sc.Soc. in Political Science from uOttawa, an LLB from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters of Public Administration degree from Queen’s University.
