The Rideau Canal is a national historic site which opened in 1832 and is currently managed by Parks Canada. The canal also become a UNSECO World Heritage Site in 2007. The canal has cultural significance, supports many recreational activities for its residents and visitors, and it is formed by two watersheds. The canal is a complex socio-ecological system in the area which offers the HAL some interesting potential for exploring questions tied to the Anthropo(s)cene and human-environment relations.

What?Multimedia and experiential research that goes beyond the human in a canoe or a kayak; Please bring a camera, sound recorder, waterproof paper or any other recording apparatus!
