Deputy Minister of the Department for Women and
Gender Equality, GINA WILSON
"Being a leader in the Public Service – What does it
mean?"
Gina Wilson was appointed Deputy Minister of the
Department for Women and Gender Equality on
May 23, 2017. Before becoming Deputy Minister,
Ms. Wilson was the Associate Deputy Minister of
Public Safety Canada where she led files on
cannabis legislation, firearms and criminal justice
reforms. Ms. Wilson has worked in many areas of
the government throughout the years. Before
joining the Government of Canada, she worked
with the Assembly of First Nations as well as her
First Nations community of Kitigan-Zibi as
Executive Director of Health and Social Services
and as Director of the Wanaki Treatment Centre.
