The Chair of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Ottawa cordially invites you to attend a talk by the H.E. Andriy Shevchenko, Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, entitled “The Kerch Strait Attack and the Russia-Ukraine War.

Prior to the diplomatic appointment in 2014, Mr. Shevchenko had accomplished an outstanding career in politics and media. He is also well known in Ukraine as a civil activist and a human rights defender. In 2013-14, as an MP from the opposition Tymoshenko Bloc, Mr. Shevchenko was an active participant of the EuroMaidan protests.  He was deeply involved in organizing peaceful demonstrations and protection of the protesters from the violence by the police and legal repressions by the authorities.

During the Q&A period following his presentation, Ambassador Shevchenko will also address pressing questions, including the granting of autocephaly to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the 2019 presidential election.
