“A Nation Sings Itself: São Paulo Voices and the Canons of Brazilian Song”
Dr. Rachel Beausoleil-Morrison brings vital energy to her passionate obsession with all facets of voice work, with the mind of a researcher and the heart of an artist. Her newly minted Ph.D. lets her blend her affinity for languages, Panamerican musics and vocal performance. Her three CDs are infused with international rhythms and dramatic flair. She is co-founder, co-writer and lead singer of the Brazilian jazz group Sol da Capital, and was a guest performer in the University of São Paulo’s Panamérica Canção Project in 2013. She has sung in several vocal ensembles and maintains a thriving private teaching studio.
Event presented as an open session of the course POR2101: Cultures of the Portuguese-Speaking Countries
