We live in a world that is more and more defined by an ultraliberal and ultra-individualist vision of social life which brings a decline in values and a decrease of social order. As we face a phenomenon which brings all individual opinions to the same level as expertise, the humanities must react by insisting on the critical distancing to explain the mechanisms at work in the social transformations.

Keynote speaker:

Yves Gingras is professor in the history department at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM), holds the Canada Research Chair in the History and Sociology of Science and he is the cofounder and the scientific director of the Observatoire des sciences et des technologies (OST).
