The Carceral Studies Research Collective will host its inaugural lecture by Robyn Maynard, author of Policing Black Lives: State Violence in Canada from Slavery to the Present (Fernwood – 2017). The lecture, which is co-sponsored by uOttawa Criminology Week 2017: 150 Years of (De)criminalization in Canada (November 13-16), will be followed by a community discussion facilitated by Dahabo Amed Omer, spokesperson for Justice for Abdirahman.
