Job Prospects for Women and Youth in the Mekong

Economies are growing in the Mekong Region but women and youth face challenges in getting better jobs that will allow them to share in the benefits. These groups experience relatively high unemployment, unpaid family work and other forms of informal employment, and low earnings. Improving the employment of women and youth is also central to the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically on gender equality (SDG 5) and on decent work (SDG 8), as well as Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.
