Introduction to Laser Cutting

This workshop is a certification class where participants will be shown how to safely use the Laser cutters located in the Makerspace. The Workshop will consist of a tutorial on how to use the laser cutter, along with safety measures and approved materials that can be cut. Individuals who feel comfortable can be tested following the workshop to be fully certified for using the laser cutter for personal or volunteering purposes!

Laser Cutting with Different Media [Intermediate Level]

This workshop hosted at the Makerspace is recommended for students who are familiar with using Inkscape or other design software which produce .svg files acceptable for laser cutting.  Each participant will need to display their skill of properly using the laser cutter before receiving certification to use the machine. If you have not already, please make an account on Makerepo.com before coming to the workshop! Please bring your student card if you are a University of Ottawa student!

Laser Cutter Training

This workshop is a training class where participants will be shown how to safely use the laser cutters located in the Makerspace.

This workshop will consist of an Inkscape tutorial followed by training on how to use the laser cutter, along with safety measures and approved materials that can be cut followed by individual testing where everyone will display proper use of the machine to the Makerspace instructor. This workshop is offered in English and runs from 5:30-7:00 pm.

No equipment is required but laptops are recommended.
