Ottabotics Information Session

In this information session, you will learn about the University of Ottawa’s robotics team, Ottabotics. Ottabotics participates in multiple competitions and assists in innovated designs in the Ottawa community. By joining the team, you will be able to participate in our competitions: Roboboat, IARC, and IARRC. The team will be hosting a learning project prior to joining the team, in which you must be registered, by January 20th , to participate. Registration is not required to attend the info session. Canada 150 celebration Design Challenge info session

In 2017, Canada celebrates 150 years as a nation–and Canadians will gather in their Capital to join local residents in a year of celebration. Ottawa 2017 is tasked with creating 12 full months of big, bold, immersive and moving experiences that will complement national celebrations and annual events and festivals. To celebrate this occassion, the Richard L'abbe Makerspace has launched its third design challenge. From drones to wearables, participants in this challange will need to integrate art and technology in a STEAM punk theme. Join us on Jan.12th for an information session.

Introduction to Laser Cutting

This workshop is a certification class where participants will be shown how to safely use the Laser cutters located in the Makerspace. The Workshop will consist of a tutorial on how to use the laser cutter, along with safety measures and approved materials that can be cut. Individuals who feel comfortable can be tested following the workshop to be fully certified for using the laser cutter for personal or volunteering purposes!

Laser Cutting with Different Media [Intermediate Level]

This workshop hosted at the Makerspace is recommended for students who are familiar with using Inkscape or other design software which produce .svg files acceptable for laser cutting.  Each participant will need to display their skill of properly using the laser cutter before receiving certification to use the machine. If you have not already, please make an account on Makerepo.com before coming to the workshop! Please bring your student card if you are a University of Ottawa student!
